Youtube has lowered the requirements for accessing monetization tools under the 'youtube partners' program.
The company also announced that it has expanded its affiliate marketing program to allow US-based creators with more than 20,000 subscribers to participate in the YouTube Partner Program.
YouTube also announced a set of new terms and conditions
- This is required for content creators to receive monetization tools. These conditions include:
- The creator must have 500 subscribers.
- Must have uploaded three public videos within the last 90 days.
- They must also have reached 3,000 watch hours in the last year or 3 million views of their short videos in the last 90 days.
In comparison, you previously had to show 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of video views, or 10 million views for short videos.
If content creators meet the new terms,
They can apply to join the '' YouTube Partners '' program and take advantage of a number of monetization tools. These tools include
- Super Chat
- Thank you
- SuperStickers
- Plus subscription tools like a support channel and the ability to promote their own products on the YouTube Store.
The standard of uploading three videos every 90 days is also strange, as long-form video creators may lack the material to produce multiple videos within the specified time period, despite having millions of views.
The new consent standards apply to YouTube in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Taiwan, and South Korea. In other countries where the program is already available, it will be enforced later (YouTube Partner Program).
The company is also expanding its affiliate program to more US creators. And the YouTube platform had launched its own commission marketing program in short videos, for some creators residing in the United States, for a short time.
The Alphabet subsidiary is focused on providing short-form video creators with new monetization tools, Youtube began sharing ad revenue from short videos with creators.
In announcing its fourth quarter 2022 results, the company announced that the number of views of short videos exceeded 50 billion per day. And last October, Meta announced that Reels' short video clips on Instagram and Facebook were viewed more than 140 billion times per day.
