Apple is launching an online store in China, which can be accessed via WeChat.
With more than 1.2 billion users, WeChat is one of the most widely used apps in China. In the future, a mini-program called Mini-Program that may be added to the same application, WeChat, will provide access to the Apple online shop.
Users have the choice to add WeChat's mini-programs to access e-commerce, live broadcasting, banking services, home delivery services, and more.
Users will be able to buy all Apple products, including iPhones, iPads, Macs, and more, through the online store via the WeChat platform.
Customers will have access to free shipping on demand, and some would only have to pay for deliveries sent within three hours. A program for exchanging hardware will also be offered.
As part of its efforts to increase sales in China, Apple moves to the move to the WeChat platform, which is the most popular in China.
According to a Reuters article, Apple already operates a store in Alibaba, China.
And JD.com, the second largest online retailer in the country, is the authorized Apple representative there.
Apple's sales in China decreased by 5% in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period last year, according to research from Counterpoint Research based on published statistics. This percentage represents the company's steepest drop in China since 2014.
With sales accounting for 20% of all smartphone sales in China during the first quarter of this year, Apple currently holds the greatest market share in that country.
