Messenger Lite

The Android system's "Messenger Lite" app is terminated by Meta.

The Android system's "Messenger Lite" instant messaging program has been discontinued, according to Meta.

The application won't be used after September 18th of next year, according to the business.

To run on Android smartphones with poor specifications, the business had unveiled the app at the end of 2016 as a "softened" version of the main Messenger application.

When the "Messenger Lite" program is loaded, a message that encourages switching to the full version of Messenger and notifies users that the Lite edition will shortly be terminated during the month of September is shown to users.

The business emphasized that while the chats will still be saved and available in Messenger, the decision to close the program won't affect them.

The Google Play Store no longer allows new users to download the Messenger Lite app, although existing users can still do so until the software is taken down.

Due to its straightforward layout and basic communication features, as well as other features like its compact size and minimal storage requirements, the aforementioned application has a very large user base. It also works well on low-end devices while consuming less data and enabling communication even when there is an unstable or weak Internet connection.

The night mode and other features seen in Messenger's full edition are absent from the app.

Although Meta declined to give specific reasons for closing the well-known program, press sources suggest that one important factor in the company's decision was the recent improvement in mobile device specs.

It's important to note that Facebook Lite is still available and that the corporation hasn't announced its shutdown recently.

Additionally, Meta has previously stated that it will no longer support SMS text messaging in the Messenger program.
