Online search engines are threatened by AI bots.
Artificial intelligence is predicted to cause a 25% drop in online search engine traffic, according to a new report from market research firm Gartner.
The paper claims that the rapid development of generative AI tools, such chatbots and picture production tools, is the primary cause of the market's fall in online search engines.
In light of this anticipated change, Gartner suggests that businesses think about modifying their marketing channel plans. Because users will depend on generative artificial intelligence solutions to ask queries and receive answers more quickly and easily than they can from traditional search engines, these solutions will eventually replace search engines.
Nowadays, a lot of businesses use content marketing to reach their target audience. They do this by buying sponsored adverts to appear on search results pages or by ranking well in search results.
The company added that since AI-generated content is becoming more common, search engine algorithms will reward higher-quality material.
In order to recoup operational expenses and turn a profit, it is anticipated that businesses offering these services would turn to inserting sponsored links and adverts into their offerings.
This shift might also pave the way for rival services to established search engines, like the recently launched Perplexity search engine, to appear. According to recent rumors, OpenAI, the company that created the well-known ChatGPT bot, also intends to introduce an online search engine.
