Microsoft introduces a new Windows 10 backup application.
For users of Windows 10, Microsoft has released a new version of its backup program.
The new program debuted after Microsoft released a recent update with version number 19045.3391 for Windows 10 beta testers to test.
Users can choose Windows Backup from the list of programs on the Start menu to reach the new application.
The app's name implies that users can copy files and directories to their OneDrive cloud accounts.
In addition to preserving Windows settings, remembering Wi-Fi passwords and other passwords, and backing everything up to a OneDrive account, the application also lets you remember installed programs and installed program preferences.
The fact that the application does not currently offer the option to recover files and settings only fuels rumors that it is a tool for transferring data from Windows 10 to Windows 11.
The new program was first introduced by Microsoft in May with one of the beta upgrades for Windows 11, and it will be made public this fall when the official Windows update is released.
Microsoft has already stated that customers shouldn't anticipate upgrades that bring about significant changes or new features as Windows 10 approaches its end-of-support date in a year.
However, the company continues to support Windows 10 with crucial security updates and minor user-experience improvements, including help with the Windows 10 to Windows 11 upgrade.
