In comparison to what Apple offers in terms of updates for iPhones, Google presently grants Pixel devices three years of major Android updates, plus an additional two years of security patches.
In a related vein, Samsung has provided significant Android updates for its contemporary Galaxy series mobile devices for 4 years, along with 5 years of security updates.
Informed sources claim that Google plans to launch updates faster than Samsung since it would offer significant Android updates with security fixes for up to 5 years.
If Google modifies its update delivery procedures, it will close the gap with Apple, which offers at least five years of significant iOS updates in addition to seven years of security patches.
It is important to note that other Android device makers are not required to release updates in accordance with Google's policy; instead, they do it in accordance with the classification of each device.
