Samsung launches the Galaxy Ring smart ring
According to a report from South Korean news site The Elec quoting its sources, Samsung is currently working on a new smart ring-shaped wearable device. Galaxy Ring will be the name of this smart ring.
The Galaxy band will look like a standard ring from the outside, but it will also have additional sensors that allow it to collect the wearer's health information and send it to their smartphone.
Along with other features comparable to those found in smartwatches and smart bracelets, this smart ring can measure the user's vital signs such as heart rate, track movement activities, and monitor sleep activity.
It's also vital to keep in mind that certain businesses currently manufacture smart rings and sell them, such as the Finnish business Oura, where prices start at USD 300. As a result, Oura rings will face direct competition from Samsung's impending product.
Even though Samsung has begun working on this smart ring, a release date has not yet been made public. Samsung will evaluate and test the prototype device before deciding whether to continue manufacturing it.
There were rumors and previous press reports regarding Samsung's plans to create this item, and the business earlier this year registered a trademark called Galaxy Ring. The Samsung Health app has also picked up on the ring's presence.
To compete with the previously announced Vision Pro glasses, which are projected to be made available to the general public in 2024, Samsung is also likely to introduce smart glasses that support mixed reality.
